Stirling
Stirling is a city steeped in history, it is located
in central Scotland and is known as 'the gateway to
the highlands'.
Standing at Stirling castle at the center of the sprawling
city, you can see the ochil hills to the north east
, to the north west, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs.
Looking to the East you will see Fife, Grangemouth,
Falkirk and on a clear day, the forth road bridge and
Edinburgh. Glasgow is South West although cannot be
seen over the Campsie Fells.
The wall of hills to the north and South mark the Forth
Valley formed by glaciers many millions of years ago.
Stirling Castle itself is built upon a volcanic plug,
raising it from the valley floor below.
